I have always said that my best ideas have been created either in the pub or on the toilet.(This does not mean that they are better ideas, if I am on the toilet in the pub.) The skill is in turning those ideas into realities. One Summer’s afternoon whilst sitting in the beer garden, thoughts and ideas were flying about in the air, how could we create a business, that would be both profitable and fun and the same time? Unfortunately as the afternoon progressed and the beer seemed to get stronger, the ideas became unrealistic and were soon forgotten. Several weeks later I was asked by a friend if I would like to become a sponsor of his local Sunday league football team. Passionate about football, I was very keen, but what was the benefit to me, of simply donating money to a football team. I soon began working on ideas that would allow me to advertise at the football club, and at the same time attract an interest from its supporters and visitors. Gadgetsnfun.com was created, initially with the view of selling all types of gadgets and other items that are of interests to the typical ‘Lad’. However during my intense research I increasingly found that, although there are lots of gadgets out there, some very interesting, there were very few that I being a ‘Lad’ would actually buy. My aim was to distribute those gadgets that ‘Lads’ will buy, not just the interesing ones, but the real fun ones too. My next idea was to find a way of making Gadgetsnfun a unique site, different from all of the other boring gadget sales sites. I wanted to create a Fun side of the site, almost based on the social-networking phenomenon. With the idea of having fun, viewing photos and videos, reading jokes and creating reviews on games and other interests of ‘Lads’. To create a site where visitors could upload their own content and view others. Also being the first port of call to buy some interesting fun Gadgetry.
